Al poble on vivia el mestre Hakuin, una jove es va quedar embarassada. El seu pare la va pressionar perquè revelés el nom del seu amant i al final, per fugir de la justícia, la jove va dir que era Hakuin. El pare no va dir res més, però quan va néixer el nen se'ls va emportar a Hakuin, s'ho va llançar i li va dir:
\n-Sembla que aquest és el teu fill -afegint tota mena d'insults.<\/p>\n

\nEl mestre només va dir:
\n-Oh! ¿és així? -i va prendre el nadó als seus braços.
\nA partir d'aquest moment, a allà on anava, portava el nadó amb ell, embolicat en la màniga de la seva túnica. En nits de pluja i tempesta anava a pidolar llet a les cases veïnes. Molts dels seus deixebles, considerant-lo un home acabat, es van tornar en contra seva i el van abandonar. Hakuin no va dir ni una sola paraula.
\nMentrestant, la mare va sentir que no podia tolerar l'agonia d'estar separada del seu fill. Va confessar llavors el nom del veritable pare. El pare de la jove va córrer a veure a Hakuin i es va postrar pregant-li que li perdonés.
\nHakuin només va dir:
\n-Ah! ¿És així? -i li va tornar el nen.
\nTot el que la vida porta està bé, absolutament bé. Aquesta és la qualitat del mirall: res és bo, res és dolent, tot és diví. Accepta la vida tal com és.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
